Ronal Wheels

Here's some pics of Red Bull's Ronal (Penta style) wheels, which I think are genuine AMGs. I'm very fortunate that they're also in excellent condition. However the locknuts had me a little curious and I was horrified when I removed the rear ones....



The same offset as Blue Flame's Centras (e11), but vastly different from the original Bundts (e30):



So where can I get new centre caps????





The locknuts were added by a PO by replacing an original lug with a stud and they're far too short on the rear hubs:



As can be seen in this pic the rear locknuts were barely hanging on there...

Hi Mark the centre caps are easy they are on evil bay all the time and yes Ronal were one of two original makers off AMG wheels

Yeah I've seen the centre caps available on Ebay, but they all appear to have the later AMG logo, which includes the /// before the AMG letters. I'll probably just get a set with the new logo and start a search for some original ones. I'd like them to be period-correct....

I think I found a source for the original (or repro) centre caps although not exactly cheap... Shane at bits4benz@gmail.com (part #HWA2014000125). I'm still waiting on a pic and to confirm that the dimensions are correct, but it sounds good so far. I'll post an update when I know more...

Mark, seeing that we are talking super duper Ronal wheels, is there an update available now on those centre caps ? BTW, are you doing any work at all on Red Flame ? It just seems such a good project. Regards Styria

I am still undecided if I will change star centres for old style AMG centre caps on my Pentas.

Yes it's a great car indeed and I was very lucky to find it. Once I've cleaned the barn n made some room to breathe it'll all come together with some good progress for Red Bull

Today it's 6deg outside and with the wind howling I couldn't feel my fingers as I stacked the firewood... And that's all before it got dark! Brrrrrrrr!
