That car was on the M-100 group Downunder rally in 2008, it has a 6.3 installed by Reinhard Klavers, looks factory

Being "RED" Michel, how could you question its price ? One would think it was a lay down misere to ask for that sort of money ! Anyway, getting down to tin tacks - it certainly is impressive with some 'real' flaws. To start off with, the money asked should be the preserve of the convertible version, and not the fixed top.

Secondly, if one is looking for originality, this car doesn't stack up. Firstly, the stacked headlights. Sure, a desirable cosmetic feature, but not available on the 300 models. Probably the spot/fog lights are wrong, but I can't tell from the pictures. In addition, the boot floor is carpeted - sure, a new replacement rubber mat would retail for at least $350.00 - yes, that figure some four to six years ago, but when you're asking 150 'cold ones', you've got to have things right.

Having said all that, and shaken out my heart, it is in loverly condition, especially with that beautiful 'genuine from factory' instrument binnacle - a feature sadly not available (or not fitted) on the later 3.5 models. Hence my preference for the early Coupes, such as Helmet's 220SEC from about 1962 or 1963. One other thing - you do need to wind the windows by hand - hardly fitting for a car of that 'class' - 'quality' ? Regards Styria

Hi Very nice car i made mention of it when it was for sale in Unique cars. But here is the real Problem for the price . Drivers side front guard is dented behind head light . For that money i would expect no demand paint is un blemished. As it is difult to get a colour match with red the whole car may need to be repainted as it looks like a candy colour. :eek:

Some years ago, I did a lot of restoration work on a 300SE Coupe. It obviously came with that beautiful timber instrument binnacle, which the owner had refurbished prior to the car coming to me. The cost was a cool $2000.00 to just refurbish it, and whoever fitted it, made an absolute mess with installing it properly. Loose and non-existing screws in a couple of places....just very haphazard. Regards Styria
