I might take a wander over the Harbour Bridge during the week to take a look at that car.

Tim, looks like you might have some serious competition if it gets entered into the MBCNSW concours.

That is a very nice 300SE for sale 26,000kms since 1986 very low!

300SE was for sale at AutoHaus 1 and now the 300SE is now for sale at Classic Throttle Shop.

Simon let us know when you have been to have a look at the 300SE and what your opinion is of the car please?

Vacuumed the inside of the 300SE yesterday the interior and carpets are in very good condition.

Time to get busy with my pre-Concours preparation how's about lending a hand Simon travel to the Bay sound like a good idea mate?

Throw together some lunch for you Simon and a beer in return for travelling to the Bay sound good?

Cheers.

Tim, if that car is as good as it looks in the photos, my time might be better spent working on my old crate

I take it that's a no is it Simon?

Photos of the 300SE are very impressive would like to see the car myself in person.

My 300SE is looking very good I must say and of course that is NOT a biased opinion!

Come on Simon a visit to the Bay helping out a fellow Battleship owner and lunch and a beer how could one say no?

Cheers.

Any car can be beaten if one tries hard enough and has a considered plan of attack.
Step1 for Tim:
Go the the MBC detaing day. From the MBC website -
Sat 28th July

Technical Day - Auto Salon d'Elegance
Let the experts show you how to get your Mercedes-Benz up to Concours winning condition with this 'hands on' workshop! Lunch & refreshments supplied.
Time: 12.00pm. Location: 9 Rawson St, Auburn.

300SE badge at rear has been off and re-applied too low. Repair/respray or just cleaning?

Tim,

This is a must attend event if you are serious about your Concours preparations.

It is worth the petrol, the entry fee and much more.

I agree with Michel.

Concours still has me a little baffled and there's only one sub-category to which I'd give the majority of the credit.... >20YO, one owner, unrestored.

If it's just taken a bucket-load of cash to get a vehicle into it's current condition, then I'm not that impressed. Particularly where a vehicle is bought in pristine condition and the new owner takes credit for the original owner's hard work and care.

Not to detract from anyone's efforts, but a vehicle that's had far more money spent on it than what it's worth isn't a lot better, because all it highlights is that the owner has a heap of money. And for all we know the money was inherited and not earned through hard work.... :(

However, I believe those people who've found a run-down vehicle and have brought them back to life through their own blood, sweat n tears, deserve more credit than any other. But it's unlikely these vehicles could ever qualify for concours because their history is often fragmented at best, or worse; completely unknown.....

Hi are you sure about the badge http://www.carpoint.com.au/Gallery....d=5215855&f_mid=0&c_mid=4420481&TabId=2208824 not much difference between them http://www.carpoint.com.au/Gallery....d=4418664&f_mid=0&c_mid=4420080&TabId=2208792 but the point that you have all missed id the 15 inch steel wheel and plastic hub caps i had these wheels on my 6.9 when i bought it. alloy wheels were standard on Australian delivered W126 update models IE 300SE , 420 & 560 models . Geoff :D
Errr no. We did not miss that. The plastic wheel covers were an option and most cars I see have them rather than the alloys. It seems strange that having spent so much, people then opted for a lower cost.
regards,
Brian

Agree, the hubcaps did come on some Aussie delivered cars

I was going to comment on those hubcaps not for the reasons already given. I wasn't aware that perhaps they are not original equipment for this model year. Those hubcaps have never appealed to me, although they are expensive to buy.

The problem with a car with this low mileage lies in its future use - start using it, and the low mileage will disappear quickly and detract from its future values. Best not to use it, lock it up and then sell it ten years down the track. Sounds plausible or reasonable ? I am not sure. Regards Styria

I quite like those hubcaps, they ooze class.

Looks like it still has one of the yellow halon fire extinguishers which were banned in 1996.

That badge is definitely a fair bit lower which is puzzling.

Lovely car though. Will try and go for a look this week.

Simon your 300SE looks immaculate mate!

Be good to see you and the 300SE at the Concours in October.

My 300SE now has NSW plates they are the yellow & black plates.

Will take some more pics of the 300SE and post them on the Forum.

300SE badge on the boot of my car is in the right position I hope?

Cheers.
