300SEL 6.3 For Sale

I'm putting my 6.3 on the market.
At the moment it's forlorn in the carport with a dead fuel pump. I have a replacement Bosch short body pump for it as well as a new D Jet type pump as presently fitted. It's down on it's knees as the drivers side and rear levelling valves need replacement, a good full set of valves is supplied.
It comes with a ton of parts, including a MFIP good for spares.
So it's in "Barn Find" condition but only requires light recommissioning once the fuel pump is fitted. It last was started about 6 months ago, ran well and pumped up the suspension until the fuel pump failed.
I had intended doing all the work to get it driving again but I've decided to retire, selling my business, factory at Seven Hills, house and doing a sea change.
I've owned it for 20 years now and up until about 18 months ago drove it regularly. It was started, run and warmed fortnightly during that time.
Heath issues intervened.
I'm asking $29,000 but that's negotiable. I'd really like it gone and back to being used "in the manner it is intended to be"

I have a heap of NLA spares that go with it, airbags, sump, the unobtanium complex coolant pipe that runs through the valley.

A good outcome for all parties. Information may not be available to Bryce as regards the involvement I have had with the car many years ago. I bought it at auction some thirty years ago, prepared and resprayed the interior at my Glenorie Workshop, bought and fitted GAHH leather and carpets with the able assistance of Parks (Motor Trimmer - my son), refurbished all woodwork, purchased special Bridgestone tyres from the United States, fitted a top quality exhaust system from an AUDI and sold the car to Bill Pye, country property owner, and he in turn traded it with Peter Swatosh when he was located at Zetland. Lots of other information available to Bryce, as well as a number of photographs taken at various stages of the restoration process. Regards Styria

I was aware of that Mark, and it came as a real shock. Did you ever meet him ? He was a fabulous fellow, very smart the way he worked his property, At one time, when the whole of NSW was in drought, Bill still had plenty of feed for his sheep and cattle. He was also an Amateur Racing Driver of some note. Used to race Lotuses, but his mechanic (located at Asquith) was never able to prepare his car to the extent of actually finishing a race. In the end, Bill gave up on the Lotus and procured a Porsche GT Sports (?) and became just about unbeatable. He obviously had the best car when compared to the opposition.

I remember being chauffered in the city in his private 1974 Porsche Carrera and he knew how to handle that car. Cornering was unbelievable. I also recall Bill trailering his Lotus to Goulburn for the weekend racing. I seem to recall it was about 11 pm that the Fluid Coupling tongs sheared off and consequently he lost all drive to the gearbox. Obviously, help was not readily available, so he had no choice but to unload the Lotus from the Car Trailer and drove the Lotus to Goulburn, leaving the 6.3 and the trailer behind. It was wintertime, and those familiar with the icy night time air around the Blayney and Goulburn area just about turned him into a mummy. No heater in the Lotus, interior completely stripped out and obviously freezing cold. It was not a nice experience. Regards Styria
