How does a Camry Hybrid Stop/ Start System work I hear you ask ! Well It does not have a Starter Motor, instead the Engine is Started, as demand dictates, by the Charging Generator. It reverses its direction and spins the Engine at 1000 RPM. The Start up is instant, seamless and virtually undetectable.
Toyota's non Hybrids have a constantly engaged Starter Pinion in the Ring Gear ,so the is no lag waiting for the Solenoid to engage the Pinion.
