Nice cars for sure...... but as I learned Yesterday on a VSCC Rally, they are not engineered for Dirt Roads. On the "Road" from Settlers Arms to Wollombi the corrugations pounding the Car caused the mount lug on the Alloy Transmission extension housing to break away. A 1980 280 SL. A welding job as I can't get an Extension Housing anywhere. I was able to drive the Car home finding a sweet spot around 70 KPH where the drive shaft wasn't grinding on the cross member. Many Cars had problems on the worst road I have ever seen. The Cars from the Twenties fared pretty well ,as they were built like Sherman Tanks back then.

The organiser has since been Hanged .. Drawn and Quartered !
