* 1972 280ce $2,000 *

* 1972 280CE $3,000 *

Some rust in the underside of the car has been brought to my attention that I did not realise, in all honestly was there by a potential buyer. I feel pretty gutted by the car, have poured a lot of money into it, as can be seen, owes me about $15-16k including the purchase.

I am guessing it best to classify this as a project for someone, needs the rust to be fixed, but mechanically from what I have done is in perfect order, I've got pages and pages of work performed,

Is anyone interested at $3,000?

Sorry to hear this is not working quite to plan Des. I'll ask Miss Olga to rub her lucky rabbit's foot for you. Mind you, she's been in the country for the weekend and it was NOT so lucky for the rabbit. :eek:

Yeah Des,
I am always good at buying more cars, but never had any luck selling one, hence the crowded carport and new garage being built.
Good luck,
Chris M.

...yeah

Giving cars away is much easier, did that with my Datsuns, giveaway sign on the windscreen, hour later someone came and took it, problem solved.

C'mon mate....
Don't do that...:(

Des, with the current economic uncertainty, many people will put off buying anything other than necessary purchases. I think things will improve a little later next year after another interest rate cut to bring the prime rate down to about 4.25% but, until then it may be hard to sell our type of vehicle. Can you afford to put it away for a while and wait?
By the same token, there may be someone esle wanting to sell a 170 and finding it impossible to get the asking price so there could be some good buying if you look carefully and negotiate a bit.
Meanwhile, why not get a quote on repairs so that you know the cost and can inform a prospective buyer. You may well find that repair costs are more negotiable in the current climate. I mean, even Miss Olga has had to cut costs. Previously, she would have a bowl of warm milk with a dash of single malt before bed. Now she just has the single malt. Times could get tougher and she may have to move onto a blend.....

It's hit us all you know. There is a Facel Vega HK500 coming up for sale and it the type of vehicle that makes my heart beat a little faster - BUT - there is no way I am going anywhere near it at the moment. Down boy - down!! Down!!
You see? :eek:

BenzBoy shows his good taste once more, and there is another old favourite that I left off my hyphenated list;
Facel-Vega.
Go for it, as you said nobody is buying, so there may be bargains to be had.
Meanwhile your advice to Des is spot-on, put it away until better times, I can't sell any cars right now, so I am hanging on to them, the market will come back.

Congrats Des, in a sombre way. I read earlier this morning how you'd dropped the price again. Please don't say you gave it away:(

On the bright side, have fun filling the space left in the driveway:cool:

I would rather be a buyer than a seller right now, make the most of it Des, there are bargains to be had.
