1972 280CE For Sale *$5,000*

Well I have decided to offer my W114 1972 280CE for sale, wanting to take the plunge and ger a Mercedes 170,

Have had the car about 5 months now, lots of mechanical parts replaced, all brand new items and genuine MB parts used.



Dash has come cracks in it







New headlight glass, gaskets, reflectors and indicators fitted

Hi Des, I am somewhat surprised that your 280Ce is up for sale but, then again, nothing should surprise as far as Mr. DH is concerned. There is obviously a real problem in finding you a car that is going to hold your interest.

So, we need to start a competition, by means of a new thread, to suggest a car, or four wheeled conveyance, that will hold your attention for at least twelve to eighteen months. Right now, I'll just throw in two names - Unimog and Pinzgauer. Regards Styria

Hans if I wanted a smooth driving car I would probably never have sold my 280E, just after something interesting, something that I am still interested in owning and driving after a few months, after all the Benzes I have owned, you get to a point where "yawn" its just another car and you want to try something different, something new.

From my experience with Benzes, the older they are, the more interesting they are.

I have a pair of PONTONS that would keep you happy for a a few months....
More than the 170.. I bet

Hi Michel, Des needs something that will hold his interest, and hold it strong and firm. When I was in Austria recently, one of the many places I visited was the Mercedes Benz dealership in Graz, the city where I used to live.

I turned up about 7.20 in the morning, and everyone was already working away ever so quietly and fuss free. No one cared that I was there with my camera, so off I went. That's where I came across these, among other things. As I said, they may possibly hold Des' interest....



I know that he prefers to let mechanics do his work on his cars, but surely he would want to play with these - so many of them...




..or we have one in Dayglo Orange, with suitable pressure cells to remind him of his mighty 6.9....?



All jokes aside, I would LOVE a Unimog, the same way I have always liked the Army Land Rovers, and even the bull nosed Range Rovers they used to have. In fact, Des' possibly next choice, would also be high on my list of priorities..


yes, it's a Pinzgauer. Well, what is a Pinzgauer ? A bull ? Male DEER, you know, the Antelope look alikes...

the last was the Office section where all hard nosed decisions are arrived at. This is the loading area to cart away old computers and redundant documentation..




..why of course, it is a Pinzgauer made by PUCH in Graz. The same place that also produces the G-Wagen...

I suspect that Des is becoming more discerning. Very soon, not even a 170 will slake his thirst for automotive excellence.....and then.... and then? Let us be patient and see what the fates throw his way.
