Okeydokey,

Finally got my EPC, and still learning how to drive it. What I have found is:

Point to note is the absence (in the schematic anyway) of any kind of gasket between the sump and the engine block. Given that the 6.9 seems to be leaking oil from some of the bolts holding the sump on:
  • Is there a gasket after all? - if so, what part number?
  • Will bolt or washer replacement help?
  • Is there another possible cause for the leaks? It really does look like it's coming from the bolts directly - is a few of them, at different points around the sump.

The sump, just like the timing cover, doesn't have a conventional gasket. Sealant was used from the factory. Loctite Red or Hylomar are suitable for this. I used a Victor Reinz product for the timing cover.
The only problem is that removing the sump is no easy task.:eek:
