Depending on the body...

A Sedanca de Ville as a 1930 should be is a four door.
This one is listed as a long wheel base with an 'original' body, however, what is on it now looks like a coupe or cabriolet of some sorts.

I am not knowledgeable enough to give values, but from what I have seen online, a nicely restored sedan would bring in excess to $100,000

Hi Des,

I am staying for a week with my wife at the Peninsula at Hong Kong.

Here is their web page http://hongkong.peninsula.com/

Apart from the 14 new Phantoms they have they also possess what they say is one of two Phantom 2's in the world.

There is a little informtion about it in the PDF attached here - http://hongkong.peninsula.com/phk/pdfs/rolls_royce_press_release.pdf

I think the car they have here is a V12 model which I thought was a different Phantom to the II. I have seen it parked outside in the driveway on an earlier trip to Hong Kong but have not seen it this trip. There is a model of it in the lobby and I might ask the Concierge if it is viewable or at least get a photo of the model.

Dear Bill
That is interesting, I remember in "The Last Crusade" there was a Phantom II

Hi Des,

I wandered down to the lobby and asked the Concierge about the Phantom 2.

He said it is in England for some refurbishment.

Here is a photo of the model which unfortunately is behind glass and I had to angle it from the front to minimise the reflection.

Apparently, apart from bing the Olympia Showcar of 1934 it was commissioned for the Prince of Wales

Besides all of that, it would be, like the 170, a difficult car to drive.

Forget daily commutes or a trip to the shops.

This, as the 170, would require a serious thought and a lot of time devoted for a 'drive'...

Maybe I am getting old and grumpy

No Michel, you are nowadays applying lateral thinking, plus I would suggest that testing all new vehicles is spoiling you.

As magnificent as these Rollers are, from a practical point of view they have a 'Zero' rating - and, in my situation, that's the verdict I have to come up with. Mind, I still love looking at them. Regards Styria
