Recovering Knee rolls

Now that I have my new rear seat leather and can stop sulking (even my wife keeps saying thank god that parcel finally arrived) I have dug out my supply of backless gray carpet.

AMG69 was told by his trimmer that the carpet supplied was too thick and so he covered the knee rolls in black vinyl - which looks OK, but....

I think Gray carpet to match the floors would look much nicer.

The carpet I have looks like it wouldn't be hard to glue to the knee rolls I have after the vinyl is removed and I have the originals on my 450 as a guide and pattern.

Are there any secrets or is it as simple as it appears?

yeah Bill its relatively straight forward, just make sure that you glue the carpet on square or parallel with the knee pad otherwise the pile on the carpet will look all out of shape, also make sure you glue both surfaces and if you want it to stick really well, double glue it, so in other words glue the two surfaces let them tack off then glue them again........regards Brent

I haven't removed the carpet pieces from the bag they are in but assume the pieces are big enough for the job.

My only concern for this would be if the carpet was too thick in pile. One would end up with too much bunching at the curved area near the door vent, also it would be very difficult to make it fit neatly back onto the dashboard as the carpet would cause it to sit too high off the top and bottom edges.

yeah no concern at all cos Bill has backless carpet so it will fit fine, ive even used backed carpet before and I got that to work, steam is a great help aswell but not needed for this job.....Brent
