There must be alot of manual 116's in Brazil.

It's only been in the last 10 years or so that autoboxes have become more popular. When I bought my first car (1994/5) everyone thought I was crazy to buy an old (1984) auto car because they are problematic, as was the general consensus. The same has to be said for fuel injection, that's why we have a lot of carburettored MB too.
