Just for information Bryce, the Torque Converter in the 300 has an internal
Friction Clutch which supplies a direct drive to the rear wheels bypassing the Transmission internals. a direct connection from the engine to the rear wheels Ie., top gear. The only problem was that the Friction Plate became work hardened and then would not take the drive from second gear, it just slipped.
It was a Borg Warner D G which was used by many Car manufactures.
Jaguar, Rootes Group (Humber) etc.
