Much has been mentioned about improving the sound in these cars and also the difficulty of getting a 'full range' sound due to restricitions of space under the parcel shelf and above the fuel tank.
My web surfing has identified some speakers from Focal that would be able to be mounted under the front seats [and I definitely advise against putting them under the rears].
8" under-seat subwoofer with amplifier:

Whilst they may not have the performance of a full housing subwoofer I would be sure that the performance is an improvement when combined with whatever one can manage by fittment of front speakers in the dash and other at the rear shelf.
