    Electric v Vacuum

As Cars shun Vacuum controls the modern trend is to use Sensors and electric motors. With our two C Class CGI Mercedes I could not find a vacuum take off point to introduce a cleaner into the Manifold to clean the intake valves. As only Air now passes them with direction injection there is no...

How the '89 Lexus changed the World !! Well people will post anything.. I drove one of those early Lexus 400s... a barge for fat Yanks perhaps ? The Engine was good for hundreds of thousands of miles ,granted. with normal maintenance, Cam Belt etc. The two Door Soarer import with a Turbos...

    Glass cleaning

New screen seems impossible to clean ... Small white Dots all over. Claying has improved them. Then cleaning with "Invisible Glass" doesn't leave screen streak and smudge free. Looks ok until the sunlight hits it. ??????

    The Rover P5/P5B

:eek:The fault is Rovers in fitting the cheap over stressed BW 35. The original design was American for 2.5 litre engines in much lighter Bodies.. The American versions were much more robust than the UK and Australian productions. Heavier Gear Sets to handle the Torque. The non American built...

    The Rover P5/P5B

Yes Michael, the Shadows 1 and 2 did corner on their Door Handles..... but there was a kit available from the U. K., Springs and Shocks, that made them stay upright. And with a Transmission Vacuum Modulator from a Pontiac they also drove much better... clean precise upshifts.

    The Rover P5/P5B

Re: The Rover Automatics Just another experience with Jaguar XJS Automatics.. Even in 100KPH Australia the T 400s gave trouble .. we always found the the earlier fitting of:p Cast Iron BW12 was a better Transmission in these cars. We fitted a front Band from an American Rambler to stop the...

    The Rover P5/P5B

    The Rover P5/P5B

Well I feel i must comment on the DG getting such a bad press It is an old design which works very well when rebuilt properly. Fitted in large numbers to Jaguars, Humbers ,Ford Zephyrs ,Rovers etc. The Torque Converters with the Lockup Clutch was way ahead of its time. Giving a direct drive in...

    Electronic Ignition

An interesting episode of an older Wheeler Dealers program demonstrated the advantage of switching to Electronic Ignition from Points on a XJ Jaguar. The Spark intensity was improved by a factor of three. Plus a wider plug gap as a bonus.I had a particularly good result on my MGA years ago...

    Windscreen Glass

I cannot sort the minefield of choice to have a new screen fitted to my C Class W204. Shannons apparently have a tie up with O'Brain Glass who get very bad reviews. Glass is sourced from China it seems, down to the lowest cost. In today's cars the Windscreen is an integral part of Rollover...

It never stops even after 84 years !!... Two problems on our W240 C Class CGI Turbo Cars. One sorted by the Internet information. The C 250 was sluggish compared to our C 200. Reset the ECU by disconnecting the Negative Terminal for 15 minutes. It resets itself going back to how it left the...

mercedes are not always the best

The new addition a W204 C Class 75ks is now performing as designed . New Air Filter. Research tells me that the Cam gears and Timing Chain will need an expensive replacement after 100,000Ks + The Cam Sprockets are Cast Iron an inferior material for the Job. Replacement Gears from Mercedes are...

    Electronic Injectors

:confused:Sorting my new acquisition.... another W204. Brake fluid had never been changed. There is no external Fuel Filter it's part of the Fuel Pump. C Class 250 doesn't fell like it has the performance/drivability of the W204 C200. Same 75000 Ks I wonder if the injectors are...
