Mark the guy I worked with shut up shop for various reasons but I know of someone even better in Elmore.

Ian and Jason at Rare Tin restorations Elmore. (I have to find their number as they don't need to advertise)

Just be aware that these guys are flat out and I believe Ian is a bit of a Benz fan.

I'm also trying to get a local mate with a very impressive bodywork and paint pedigree with Luxury cars to start up again after a very very long absence from the industry.

Amazing what you find in small country towns eh?

Tony, apparently there might be some spots of surface rust on a couple of my cars, so I might need some help too!! ;) I'll just have to set aside a week to get down there and home again!!!! Unless you can recommend someone closer to the big smoke.....

Just had a wheel repaired after a wheel balance went wrong. When it came back I found the inside rim had been scratched in transit and there was a run in the clear coat around the hub area. Why is it so hard to find good help? Does no-one take pride in what they do anymore? And yet they charge premium prices for dodgy work! And they wonder why manufacturing is not doing well in Australia.....

Oh and if im game I can hop the train/Vline coach, books a motel for the night or so and then mosey on back!

Ive also got a buddy who is mad enough to go on insane roadtrips collecting cars and anything I ask of him is usually far tamer than the trips he does for his 30's to 50's Chevs

Hi Mark, I do think that you make a very good point of the sequence of events that lead to an unwanted, and little cared for, commodity. In my view, it is an unfortunate fact that spare parts prices really can stymie the restoration potential of our 116s, whether they be 280s or 6.9s. Some items are just ridiculous when they are quoted in the hundreds for quite harmless and innocent items such as the rear shackle bushes at more than $300.00 each etc. etc. Just compare that price with a GMC lawn mower that I bought off Big 'W' with a Briggs & Stratton four stroke engine for just a couple of cents off $200.00 with a two year warranty.

I am almost 100% certain that it is the cost of spares that can easily consign our cars to the scrap yard. Regards Styria
