Exactly.....

The 690SEL is my fun car...
I take it almost anywhere without worrying about what peoplemight say, except "look at this old car" and then....
I blast away....

You can't do that with the Spur, it has too much class..

Yep the 6.9's biggest trump car is the sleeper aspect to it, in fact old Benzes in general get that.

Was at the lights on the highway in my 280CE on Monday, a Magna about 10 years old pulled along side me, lights changed, I floored it, somehow the car squealed the tyres changing up from 1st to 2nd gear, and we were gone!!!!

He didn't expect that!

Well Benzes of our cars vintage don't exactly look like racers...
So people get fooled by the staid appearance..

I'll tell you a story.....

was going to work one morning in the Bentley, frosty roads, lights were about to change I had to turn right, took the corner maybe 50? 40? well the front went one way, the back another, I literally went sideways down the street, I don't know maybe 20 meters, I just slid sidways past all the cars that where stopped at the lights waiting to go the other way.
All these people in their cars looking at me strangely, as I slid past sideways in the Bentley.

....just to get back to AMG steering wheels, this arrangement is my preference as far as wheels and/or hornpads are concerned..with matching Pioneer head unit in look-alike timber frame...




One could perhaps go one step further and have the standard steering wheel modified to be part timber/leather like on the new models. Regards Styria
