Busy again today detailing the 300SE.

Brian please have a look at the door jams & hinges and tell me what you think?

Photos were taken side on so you could see the jams & hinges more clearly well I hope so?

Beautiful sunny Spring afternoon took a few snaps of the 300SE as you do!

I can't see any dirt there Tim! Good job.
I can see some excess grease around the hinge in photos 1 and 3. That need to be cleaned off.

Phew that's a relief thanks Brian!

Okay then how do I remove that excess grease?

Hmmm - it looks like it is dry lube so I suggest wiping hard with a microfiber cloth - probably don't use any chemicals. I hope you have long fingers?

Looks to be dry lube Brian.

Okay micro fibre cloth got plenty of those.

Great you can wash the cloths on there own no washing powder in the w/machine and reuse the cloths.

As for the long fingers see what I can do about that.

Hands, knuckles and fingers covered in grease & dirt, cuts & scratches on my hands the joys of car detailing!

Anyhow really happy with my progress I will just keep chipping away.

300SE is off the car detailers Friday morning to detail underneath the car.

Also clay bared inside the engine bay using Meguiars quick detailer then wipe off the detailer spray.

Only clay bared areas I could access which at times was tricky.

Any advice on how best to clean the inside of the spare alloy wheel in the boot?

With wheel cleaner and lots of hard work.....
Didn't you have it painted when you had the other wheels done?

Any non acidic wheel cleaner should do Tim. And old tooth brush for tight corners of wheel moulding.

For truly baked on brake dust I like to use an acid cleaner - scrub with a bristle brush and then move on to less harsh cleaners. Here's where my secret weapon comes in handy; a piece of green bamboo cut to a sharp point. It will help break the surface tension between crud and wheel without scratching the wheel.
Of course, a Concours car should never be allowed to reach the point where it needs such treatment.

You know 'seriously', why didn't I think of that and it was just that simple.

No Brian the spare wheel has not been repainted.

The cost of having four wheels painted cost me a total of over $2000.

I last looked at the spare alloy two weeks and the inside & outside of the wheel was not to bad no baked on brake dust.

Now seriously I must get back to more Concourse detailing.

Simply polish the wheel and dress the tyre Tim and all will be good.

Tool kit arrived today.

Tool kit pouch is brand new and of course so are the tools.

Tools are genuine Mercedes.

Purchased a bottle of AutoGlym SRP from Repco today which was on special.

AG SRP was $15 for a 500ml bottle the AG was on still on special from Father's Day.

Rain here today at home has held me back detailing the car today.

300SE is off to the car detailers tomorrow morning to clean underneath the car.

The blue tool kit is the correct kit for the W126 Series.

I was informed today that I won't lose any Concourse points for having the blue tool kit.
