Foot rests should be shampooed. I use an industrial wet and dry vacuum for that. If you don't have access to one then you will need something like - http://www.meguiars.com.au/products/car-care/interior-care/carpet-upholstery-cleaner/
There will be other brands but I have not used them so can't comment on their efficiency.
Lie down on your back on the ground to inspect your wheel arches - they must be 100% clean.
To stop your tools from rusting after cleaning, wipe over with a rag you have sprayed WD40 on - or a little oil.
As for a new tool bag - that's a good idea. MB Spares or Helmet may be able to get one for you.
Regards,
Brian

By the way, make sure you jack is perfectly clean and wiped over with a light spray of WD40 on a cloth - wipe it on/wipe it off and repeat until the finish all looks the same.
If you don't have WD40 you can put a couple of drops of oil on a cloth and do the same thing. If you use too much oil then the result will be greasy - wipe it off and do it again with less oil.
Also, make sure your door hinges are clean of any old grease. I use a silicone spray on door, bonnet and boot hinges to make sure they are squeak free. You can buy silicone spray with a nozzle tip so you get it right into the hinges without overspray.
Anything else you are unsure of Tim, just ask.
One of us here will know the answer.

Brian

They are cheaper to rent from Bunnings Tim. I cleaned my house after each public viewing while it was for sale. :D

Unfornately the Club President had to cancel this weeks detailing he is busy and can not help me out.

Another car detailer 30mins from my place could have detailed the engine & underneath the car, but he is also booked out until early October.

No problem I have contacted another car detailer today and the 300SE is booked in next week to have the engine bay and underneath the car detailed.

I was very lucky to find a car detailer who was not booked until after the Concourse.

Tried to clean the old tool kit again by soaking the kit in the laundry sink with washing powder.

Rinsed off the tool kit air dried the tool kit in the shade not in the sun as the kit would dry out!

There are brown rusty stain marks on the kit tried to remove those with a tooth brush soak the kit again and rinse with water.

Well unfortunately that did not remove the stains.

Applied WD40 to the tools some which are Mercedes tools and the others are non-genuine tools.

Tools are quiet rusty could use steel wool to remove the rust might be a good idea?

I think to purchase a new tool kit might just be the way to go.

I will crack on with the dirty air vents, clean the tyre jack.

Dubbin leather conditioner feels very smooth on the leather seats.

Anyhow more work to do before the 28th September, more than enough to keep me busy.

New tool kit pouch including the tools ordered arrives next week.

Not sure if the pouch will be a blue or burgundy colour?

The kit is a genuine W126 tool kit pouch.

Apparently the burgundy kit pouches are for the earlier model Mercedes from the 1960's and 70's is that correct?

Crack on today with more detailing work and every other day detailing the 300SE before Sunday week.

Brian I saw the dirt & dust you were referring to inside the air vent pillars that will be cleaned rest assured.

Back to work guys talk soon.

Busy day today detailing the 300SE.

Brian have a look at the air vent pillars now and see what you think?!

Polished the chrome work as well.

Also removed the warning triangle in the boot wiped it over with a damp cloth.

The warning triangle was quite clean a little dirt & dust on the inside of the triangle well it's gone now!

Never removed a warning triangle from one of my Mercedes before, but it is quite an easy job.

Have a look at the photos guys and see what you think?
:)

Not getting ahead of myself 10 days to go and still well you guessed it more work to do.
