Oh dear, I got lost when someone mentioned synchromesh....what's wrong with a good "crash" gearbox? Get the timing right and you hardly need touch the clutch! OK - luddite is within my vocabulary. :rolleyes:

How right you are Brain, one of my first Cars, Down Under, was a 1929 De Soto Doctors Coupe with a 3 sp crash Box. A joy to use and easily timed. I also recall overhauling a crash Box in a Ford Truck in the late Fifties, it was so easy to Drive afterwards, all the parts were available off the shelf from Ford.
