Well sorry to say after losing points at the Concours for the B-Pillars and the tail pipes oh well!
:(

Just ordered a NOS Ernst rear muffler for the 300SE.

Muffler purchased from Helmet thank you Helmet.

Muffler arrive next week and will be fitted next week.

Ernst muffler is close to as the original Factory muffler fitted to a Mercedes would that be correct?

Too be honest the stainless steel tail pipes I had fitted not long ago did not suit the car!

Keep the car as original is the way to go.

You might have to paint it with black exhaust paint. It doesn't look quite as good as the stainless unit on Gleaming Beauty (Must find the photo). Regards Styria

Good idea Styria.

Have not seen the top of the muffler I am sure it is fine.

Black exhaust paint can that be purchased from auto part stores?

Cheers.

Yes it can Tim. You need to bear in mind that Styria's muffler might look shiny but it is not original and the car rarely goes so it will stay clean for years on end....:D

Brian

Actually BenzBoy, you are correct in your assumption. There are a couple of holes in that muffler, and they do come out the back ! Left yourself wide open..... :D Regards Styria

N.B. Seriously though, and this is also in answer to Michel's "quip", it is a beautifully made muffler, high gloss stainless steel (and solid), and it did cost $450AUD to supply and fit. I thought it was quite good value, especially as the fitting involved the adaption of twin flanged connections which usually cost extra money.

Hi Peter,

Could I please ask you to give the muffler a coat of black exhaust paint top and bottom of the muffler?

Many thanks,
Tim.

B-Pillars & muffler now done here's hoping for a better result at the Concours in 2014.

Just received a call from AutoPro for a fitting the muffler.

Warren the Manager said their is a BIG cardboard box with my name written literally all over it so the muffler has arrived.

300SE booked in tomorrow to fit the muffler.

Thank you Helmet for delivering the muffler to AutoPro.
