The time required to remove/replace an Alternator on a 6.9 would be no more than one hour - say, even two thirds of that. $50.00 max. ?
Unless the Alternator is a basket case, in which case one may as well throw it out, replacing the bearing (seldom required), and Regulator (about $35.00) and the Auto Electrician's fee should come to no more than $120.00 tops. I usually can look forward to some small change from $200.00. Regards Styria
Well you would think so?
Price goes quoted from $200 to almost $380 to $450 to recon the existing alternator.
My Benz mechanic is back in the workshop next week he has many years of experience.
I would not even doubt he could remove the alternator for me good idea if I watch and learn whilst he removes the alternator.
I have never removed an alternator before would not even know where to begin?
Auto Electrician well that is not me.
Anyhow none the less I will get it sorted out.
2017 off to a cracker of a start alternator needs some TLC.
Well the alternator is 28 years old this year.
I am 9 years older than the 300SE maybe my alternator needs a recondition as well?! Lol.
