    W126 Exhaust Performance Upgrades

BTW he also said you should run a twin 3” (76.2mm) OD exhaust which I think is far too big!! But then again his car does produce 440hp...

    W126 Exhaust Performance Upgrades

I was speaking to a mate who races a 450SE & his mods have been recommended by a well known racing team in V8SC. They specified an OD of 1 7/8” (47.63mm) and a minimum primary length of no less than 28” (711.2mm)!! Of course that’s in an ideal world with no space limitations.... So based on a...

    W126 Exhaust Performance Upgrades

This was based on a minimum ID of 40.5mm (1.59”) for the 560. Minimum ID of 41.5mm (1.63”) for the 6.9.

    Mercedes V8 Inlet Manifolds

I went to pickapart yesterday looking for a throttle body. Although advertised in some places, the V6 Commodore throttle plates are far smaller.... Yes the outside diameter is 80mm but internally it’s useless for my application. And only 2 mounting bolts??? The Falcon I6 uses a throttle body...

    Penrite ISO15 Hydraulic Oil

The 344.0 appears to be for the tandem pumps on the W129?

    Penrite ISO15 Hydraulic Oil

Well I’m still somewhat confused. Although if ISO15 is for SLS & ISO48 is too thick (IMO), then in the absence of verified evidence by myself, ISO32 sounds about right! Certainly miles better than engine oil lol!!!

    W116 Instrument Clusters

Styria the brief update is I’m still trying to sort things out since I got burged (yes again) just before Christmas. So much to do before I get the 560 on the road. The red 6.9 will be next. Then there’s the manifolds I’m working on too. Not to mention fixing a damaged daily after it had an...

    Penrite ISO15 Hydraulic Oil

There’s some interesting new info on my Mercedes Benz HPF Facebook page... The poster suggests the 6.9 (& presumably the W126 HPF too) required thicker fluid to the regular SLS. It’s been suggested that SLS required 15W (Eg Penrite MB15) & HPF should be 32W. If true this is good news since the...

    W126 Exhaust Performance Upgrades

I can see why some tuners try to use equal length primaries, but they don’t seem to realise that tight bends will also restrict flow...

    W126 Exhaust Performance Upgrades

I’ve just been doing some calculations & if you believe one school of thought, exhaust primaries should be a minimum length for optimum flow. Of course space is the biggest issue here, but by my math (using optimum diameter pipe), the minimum primary lengths are as follows: 560: 538mm 6.9: 632mm

    Gemballa W126s

I recently discovered this tuning company. All style without a lot of substance! Pity they didn’t tip more into driveline development. It didn’t finish well for the founder.... Very interesting story & maybe that’s why so many of our cars are referred to as ‘gangsta’?? If I had unlimited money...
