    aftermarket parts experiences

Unfortunately silver star no longer seem to supply parts for classics. Tried a few times even on basic stuff and I’ve given up now.

    aftermarket parts experiences

Adding another one to this list. A friend had the voltage regulator replaced on his w123 last year. The garage used KAE brand. He just told me it was not charging well again. On inspection the KAE regulator was all corroded. Another used reg got the car charging again so he now has a...

    The new ML

I think that was a reference to the rover first that if I recall correctly even the owners manual says to start in second for normal driving. 1st being for steep hills/towing etc. Not unlike a Citroen berlingo I drove once. I had to get used to starting in 2nd as 1st was so short it was...

    Eastern Suburbs Cars and coffee

Went again today in my DS. They are now in a new location, I think the rangers gave them a hard time in the park. https://www.classicjalopy.com/2022/05/eastern-suburbs-cars-and-coffee-may-2022/

    Car of the week

Yes with the international borders open and interest rates going up, I think the heat is going out of the market. Really nice cars are still going at a premium, but average condition, high ks or anything like that is not getting the prices they used it.

    My W126 380SE

Silver star did at least a couple of years back. I know they are no longer interested in classics but this is a common part. Might be worth trying ASV too.

    Tyres

I remember a tyre shop owner telling me he is putting his kids through university with the profits from European SUV tyres. He said people buy them and think they an drive a 2.5 tonne truck like a car, and then wonder why they burn through tyres like this in 12 months. The Porsche is...

    My W126 380SE

Big improvement. I prefer the slim headlight wipers on the series 1 cars than the fatter units on the series 2.

    Volvo (truck) hydrogen fuel cell

I'm assuming that the energy generating axle adds some load to the rig, but that additional load is less than the 2l per hour quoted in the article. I guess there must be a battery too, for when the trailer is waiting for a period of time not generating power. Still, its a very interesting...

    Jensen Club National Rally 2022

I attended the public display of this event today. Pictures below. https://www.classicjalopy.com/2022/05/jensen-club-national-rally-display-2022/ No, I'm not a member, nor do I own a Jensen. I do like them though! I took my DS up to the drive. This sort of drive is where the...

Matching Paint on GB - 6.9

I always assumed the bottom colour on your 6.9 was 906 Grey/Blue, same as my 450SLC.

WTB: Becker Mexico cassette and Becker 1402

I've been thinking about putting my 560SEC and 450SLC back to stock radios. Only issue is that they have become so expensive on ebay. Anyone have a Mexico cassette in good cosmetic condition they would be willing to let go of for a reasonable price? I only need the head unit, the amp was...

    My W126 380SE

Couldn't find it in the book, but my reccolection is that it was 1984 that the switches were changed from hard wired, to plug in. Of course, your car may have already been modified, you could remove the door trims and look. Interesting that one of your switches has a headrest button and one...

    My W126 380SE

Looking at the data card, you need the regular switch, not the memory one. Regular one looks the same but doesn't have the 1 and 2 buttons. There is one complication, early W126's didn't have pluggable switches, they were hard wired. I can't remember if 82 is in that category, but I can...
