    79 280SE

Thanks Pete, I finally managed to get the key to position 1 (and then i left it there and disconnected the battery) so I can press that button and the lock starts to slide. But because the collar is still on, it fouls against the dashboard and I can't push it any further. Looking at the...

    79 280SE

I managed to get a used steering lock from Styria, however, because I can't get the collar and tumbler out of my existing lock, I can't remove it from the car. The lock sticks through the dash, and while the front of the dash is soft, there is a metal backing that means I can't withdraw the...

    Car of the week

Upcoming Lloyds auction: My Take: 211) Looks like a restored example of a ponton 180 model. I suspect the year is wrong, but I don't know enough about these to be sure. I also suspect this is not the original colour. 215) This one has been up for sale a few times. It looks like an...

    The Rover P5/P5B

I didn’t see a single P5 at eastern creek, but later that day I refuelled next to this nice P5B saloon.

    Shannons Eastern Creek 2022, 2023 & 2024

Don't recall seeing any, but wasn't specifically looking. The event was so large, I didn't get to all spots before i had to leave. Also, clubs each take turn for their parade lap so sometimes you go past a club and most of the cars are gone for a while until they return.

    Shannons Eastern Creek 2022, 2023 & 2024

Good event and I saw a few TK members: Michel, Styria, SEL69L. I went with the Mercedes Club. https://www.classicjalopy.com/2022/08/2022-shannons-eastern-creek-car-show/

WTB: Becker Mexico cassette and Becker 1402

Next step was to see if I could use the becker line out module and wire it into standard RCA plugs so I can use a modern amp. 2x25w is pretty low for four speakers. Turned out it was a pretty easy job and I now have it working with a set of powered computer speakers (that accept RCA plugs)...

    450SE picks up his 450SE

The 450SE that we were talking about in this thread has come up to Sydney to live with a MBCNSW member. He just sent me some photos, the seats were under covers so are immaculate. the car was being sold at the end of 2021 by a relative of the original owner. Was bought by somebody else but...

    79 280SE

Even with the special tool, the collar won’t budge. May end up removing the whole steering lock. Not looking forward to that as I hear it’s a big job. At least the lock is released.

    560sec ece

The 560SEC has gone in for some work this week that should have a number of issues fixed. 1) Front calipers rebuilt and rotors changed over. 2) Will check rears while he is there, I have rebuild kits available for the rears should they be needed. Given rears gum up more that fronts, I...

Auto Brunch Event - St Ives

I attended again today. https://www.classicjalopy.com/2022/08/auto-brunch-st-ives-august-2022/ Always a good event. Patrick you would have enjoyed the fair number of really nice original old cars, like a Chrysler Lancer. Oversize would have liked the 220kw 560SEL with the rear roller blind...

    No longer Truck Like

I remember passing b-triples on my drive back from Adelaide via the barrier highway and broken hill. If you keep your foot to the floor while on the wrong side of the road (which I tend to do, to minimize my time on the wrong side), you are moving pretty quickly by the time you reach the prime...
