Trigger Wire - Dizzy to Module

Hi guys, I am sure most of you would be familiar with the special function of this innocuous looking green wire that leads from the Distributor to the Ignition Module on the inner guard.

I have priced one of these - in excess of $300.00 for a new item. I know in the States they retail for about $US 110.00 - again, not especially cheap. Has anyone had success with making up a new unit, or been able to repair an old, possibly damaged, unit ? BTW, second hand - the ones of a 280 will NOT fit on account of different size rubbing blocks. Regards Styria
