One of the problems for independent mechanics has been the refusal of major companies to allow access to the tech data needed to correctly diagnose and repair the more recent models. Hopefully, this could soon change:

I've heard that Tesla is particularly difficult in this regard from people who have tried to rebuild salvage title ones in the US.
