Can anyone please tell me which cars came with the tachometer? Or was it an option accross the board?

I think every 450SEL I have seen has had a tacho, what about the other cars?

Seems most if not all 280S's\SE's don't have one

The Australian 450's were all delivered with tacho's as standard. Any 450 you see in Australia without a rev counter is a private import, mostly from the UK which had a large clock in the same location as our rev counters.

I dare say the likes of 280S had the tacho optional, the 280SE's I looked at all had tacho's on them, I think the V8's had them standard.

haha no, more like bruise my fingers and lots of swearing while I try to remove the cluster from a 280SE here at the wreckers.
