Great article Brian.

I met him once along with Sir Jack Brabham at a Melbourne GP.
I was working for IVECO at the time, which is a huge truck company owned by Fiat
They frequented our IVECO/Fiat marquee quite often just to relax.

What a lovely man he was, and always enjoyed a good chat about trucks.

God speed Sir Stirling Moss.

A great Driver. I first watched him drive a Manx Norton Engined (Keif ?) at Newtownards Airfield near Belfast in 1952 , for versatility he then hopped into a TR2 and blitised the Field in that too. He was again successful at the Dundrod G. P.s driving for Jaguar and also partnering Fangio in the Mercedes with the Rear Air Flap Brakes. Again from memory of the early Fifties .. Fangio in the V16 BRM.
Dundrod back then, in the Hills above Belfast, was on the World Calendar.
All the Factory Teams, including the Bikes were there. Geoff Duke and Reg Armstrong on the 4 cylinder Gileras. 30 MPH faster than the Manx Nortons.
The Tracks were very dangerous back then. Moss survived... just >:D

Truly devastated!! I could’ve spoken to him 10 years ago at Motorclassica (if I’d gone), but I didn’t know then what I know now! 😭
