To be honest, I don’t even know if this is worthy content, however just for a laugh and maybe it might help some experiencing stiff/frozen HPF cable. Checkout my redneck solution to lubing the cable.

Just using some standard ATF fluid, a 600ml water bottle, an elastic cable, a balloon and some cable ties.

Fill the bottle 1/10th or so will ATF, cut the top of the balloon open enough for it to slip over the bottle top, cut two slits in the bottom half of the bottle to allow the elastic strap hooks to install into the bottle top, chuck a few cable ties in and around the place on the bottle top and HPF cable and presto!! Your very own redneck lubing solution. It’s really nothing groundbreaking, but I hope it achieves what I want it to, that being; allowing free movement down the cable and improve its function.

Well James, your solution is certainly ground breaking as I can't follow it ! But not to worry. Seriously though, THAT cable, when it was available, was very, very expensive. Several hundred dollars - not sure how many. Personally, I have never liked the cable - it is certainly beautifully made, but I am never confident in its precise operation. I never know, have I pulled it out far enough, or not enough and what is the switching valve doing in the meantime. I have actually disconnected my cable. Regards Styria
