Which grade of polarising lenses do you have, Michel? Not all grades cause this "problem".

Head up display and polarised sunglasses

I drove an A class sedan (new) recently, with HUD on the windscreen. Only problem was, with S-polarising sunglasses on, you can't see the display. The problem can be solved if the screen manufacturer incorporates a layer of 3M film (or equivalent) that alters the reflective properties of the...

    Penrite ISO15 Hydraulic Oil

Hi Oversize, yes, that was me and without repeating all the details I put there, this relates to the original factory MB Tech Data manual (small format book) that specified 343.0 (rear axle only SLS, 15 cSt kinematic viscosity) whereas 344.0 (full HPF as in 6.9, 32 cSt kinematic viscosity). Some...

South African W116 YT videos: Galimoto Media

Well, my post about the like-new 450SLC failed to get anybody's juices flowing other than Michel, but I certainly was happy to find the following W116 videos. He's a droll but largely accurate narrator: https://youtu.be/DTd2rQIjhBY https://youtu.be/I0HOHaqRYCw https://youtu.be/JVNTZD8Gq_8

    Engine swap-M102 in W123 230E

Hi All - My son has a 1984 230E. Great car, champagne gold metallic. Alas, its engine suffered a blown head gasket and he was pretty despondent. We found a donor car in Rose Bay (Sydney). It was the ideal candidate. Crap body with great engine and for $900 it was his! The good parts pulled off...

Australian 6.9 low in rear but OK in front; also goes to High position at front

Hi All - I've been away for 3 weeks and came back to a very low rear end on the 6.9 (left and right). When idling, it maintains normal height in the front (even left and right) and also responds to the raised H position at the front only. There's no leak from back struts so I wonder if the...

Original Fuchs v. replica 14" alloy wheels for W116 and R/C107

I have original Fuchs alloys on the 6.9 (6.5J x 14H2) with part number 1084001002. There was a different part number for narrower 5.5 and 6.0J etc on lower models, plus other part numbers for spare parts sets with centre cap, metal stem valve and bolts. All NLA, and some 15" versions available...

M117 - Engine shake at idle

My 117.985 engine in the 450SLC idles quite smoothly at the specified 750 rpm and normal temp (87C), but it shakes and vibrates the body (e.g. sitting at traffic lights). Is this an engine mount problem or other? Look forward to members' expertise. Thanks.

    Recently arrived 450SLC

Thanks all. Here are those interior and engine bay shots. A list of tidy-ups and some small-part replacements to take care of, such as speaker fader control wheel and new door mirror lenses. Car has new rear screen and weather seal. Dash needs some work because of the ubiquitous Australian...
