    Luxury car depreciation

I've been staggered by a couple of recent examples of depreciation I have seen in luxury cars. 1) My E350T. Purchased 9 years old with a full year of rego for $18,000. Sold new for over $130k. That is almost $13k per year of depreciation. 2) My brother is buying an E63 BMW (650i)...

    The Citroen CX

Good photo gallery of the Citroen CX: https://petrolicious.com/articles/this-citroen-was-made-to-crush-continents-with-a-family-onboard The CX didn't do well through the banger phase and few are left. There are a lot of untrue rumours about these cars like how the C-Matic transmission can't...

    Rover 3500S Rebuild

While not related to Syria's 3500, this one for sale has a great red interior! https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/cygnet/cars-vans-utes/1971-rover-3-5-litre-sedan/1182444079

    Flynn Rover Cars Auction

Was some great buys there. If I had more time, I would have bought a couple of cars and some boxes of parts and out of them built 1-2 really good ones. For example there were freshly painted body shells with no engines or interiors going for $80.

    Paul Bracq

See below for the first part of an excellent article on automotive styling great Paul Bracq. This first part covers his history at Mercedes-Benz and some of his key designs like the W111 coupe cabrio, W108 etc. There is a part 2 on the same website I have not yet read that covers his career...

    Old Tyres

Interesting article: http://classicsworld.co.uk/news/old-tyres-under-investigation/ My own experience is that old tyres even with full tread go hard and deliver unsafe handling somewhere between 5-10 yrs old.

    Car of the week

500SL 107. In my view the best of the 107 SL's as the 560 looked over done with the various spoilers, 3rd brake light etc. https://www.pickles.com.au/cars/item/-/details/CP-01-82--Mercedes-Benz--SL500--Convertible--4-Seats--2-Doors/3020065667 Car looks ok from the fairly poor quality...

    The Rover P5/P5B

In the theme of rough P5 Coupe's coming into the market here is the latest. This one is a better proposition than the last but would still need extensive refurbishment to body and wood, no mention of mechanicals: "1962 Rover P5 3.0L Mark 2 $4,000 4506 Regrettable sale, meant to be a bit of a...

    The Rover P5/P5B

Now contrast this MKIIC similar to the one I sold styria. This guy wants $1,000 and its probably worse than my old one: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rare-1966-rover-coupe-low-kms-CAN-DELIVER-no-reserve-/253511450570?roken=eLe0Nf

    The Rover P5/P5B

There is a rather nice P5B Coupe on carsales. Makes that blue one that went for about $14,000 at the flynn auction a real rip off compared to this one at $19,990. https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Rover-35-LT-1969/OAG-AD-15782645

    Car of the week

This weeks car is a very clean Petrol blue 450SE, a rather under-rated colour. While the condition of the drivers seat cannot be ascertained due to the sheepskins, the rest of the car is quite nice (not perfect, but nice). I would be happy to have it in my garage (sans wheel arch trims)...

    The Citroen DS

https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Citroen-DS-23-1973/SSE-AD-5310651/?Cr=1 This is a good honest DS23 for sale. This car is owned by a club member near me and while this car is not perfect, it's a car that can be enjoyed as is, or spend a bit of money to do some cosmetic work...

    2018 Shannons Sydney Autumn auction

    The Rover P5/P5B

The Saloon looks nice with the two tone paint you added. That Lagonda is an impressive machine. Granted 1450 pounds was a lot of moneyh in 1964, but that car I am sure is worth a lot today. I wonder if any of those three saloons ended up at the flynn auction? There were a few 3 liter...

    The Rover P5/P5B

I certainly can't top the 3am/4am posts! Its funny how even similar cars can have a big impact on this. For example, the W116 looks great in yellow whereas I think the W126 looks rather silly in yellow, like a big banana. I understand why car companies moved to the soft visors, but the...
