Colour options for the R/C107 models

Here are the colour options year by year on the 107. The 107 was in production so long that many colours came and went over the lifetime. http://www.meinbenz.de/farben/107/Farbcodes107.htm One omission is 906, which went from the start to 1979. Some really great colours here, shame the...

    W114/W115 Colour options

Here is a useful guide as to the colours available on the W114/W115 models year by year. Here in Australia white seems the most popular, probably as most didn't have A/C. This was of course back in the days when Mercedes offered a full palate of attractive colours...

Rare find of collection in Wisconsin

According to the James taylor book the front wing rover logo was kept on the USA models even through the MKII. Not sure why.

    Car of the week

Apparently this 450SEL was owned by Bono with its custom interior, commissioned after the success of the U2 Album 'Boy'. I think its hideous.

    My 1965 250SE Cabriolet

My car is finished and looking good again. Won't get to use it until after lockdown is over, but it is safely waiting on the trickle charger.

    The Rover P5/P5B

I recently came across this page detailing a proposal for a different control mechanism for the overdrive in the Rover P5. In the production car, the overdrive works only on top gear. The proposal here was for it to work on 2nd, 3rd and top gears and that it be thought of as town and touring...

Correct battery size for a w111

I was never really happy with this battery. It was a bit undersize and after my alternator died the battery was never the same. I spent more time finding a new one and came up with something that was a much better size and much higher capacity...

    be warned !

Personally I would not buy an off the plan new build apartment in NSW. The protections to allow stratas to sue the developer were gutted some years ago and many of these buildings are substandard. Not substandard to the point they will fall over, but that they will have expensive...

    Continuation - grinding and de-coking !

I suspect Styria's oil change regime is why he has received sterling service from his Captiva when its got a reputation for anything but. It wouldn't surprise me if the engine/transmission is sensitive to sludge and the combination of long service intervals and then people going beyond them...

    Ceramic paint treatment?

I would also be interested in this as ceramic coating is pushed heavily but I don't really understand how effective it is. Some people pay big money for it to be professionally applied too.

    Rover P5 IOE engine rebuild

Considering the english taxation laws favored long stroke engines (tax on bore size), the IOE layout was a clever way of getting bigger valves in the engine. Ended up a quite efficient design for what it was.

    560sec ece

I purchased these wheels recently from the benz shed. In my mind the ideal wheel for the 126. 16" is the sweet spot for comfort vs handling. Having driven cars with 14, 16, 16, and 17 I've formed that opinion. Obviously not all agree as the 17" version of this wheel is worth more...

    My 1965 250SE Cabriolet

Yes its hard to work out which is the best 111. 220 and 250 have the early features styria describes. Wooden instrument cluster, nicer interior fittings etc. There is little to separate 220 and 250 other than the engine. Some 250 engines had problems when they were new, although these...

    C107's 560SEL

Another little job that made a big difference - having the P pillar trims fixed on my SEL. I don't think i"ve seen a car with more than 100k without these ripped unless they have already been repaired. W124s have the same problem. I also had a spring fixed in the seat and the taxi blocks...
