    500E

There is a great story behind the 500E. It was trucked back of forth across stuttgart many times for the final product - between the Mercedes factory and the porsche factory. A big reason why it was so much more expensive than any other W124. a few good videos: As the first ones are...

    Penta wheels for the C107

Have now tried the clear coat Hopefully means the bolts are not horribly rusty in only a few days. I will need to be very careful fitting the bolts/wheels.

    Penta wheels for the C107

After a couple of days the bolts are rusty again. I think I am going to try clear coating the heads. I'll have to clean them again before I do this obviously and then wrap the heads in tape as I put the bolts on the car. Smearing a bit of copper grease on the threads should stop them rusting.

    Progress....

New place looks great. And those cars look well stripped - good that you were able to save all the good parts off them.

I've not actually fitted them yet. with the lockdowns I have not been able to spend much time at the small warehouse unit where I store the cars. The wheels are pretty light, so makes sense they could buckle a bit. I need to fit the Pentas on the 450SLC first. Then I am going to use...

    Red Bull (5541)

Still looks good. Mercedes still sell the centre caps for these wheels if you don't have them, even with pre-merger AMG logo.

    Australian made 14" Bundt alloys

My guess is CSA, but I will need to give them a far better clean to see if I can find evidence of that. At this stage, I am not even sure if they are 6" or 6.5"

    Penta wheels for the C107

My bolts were not up to the quality of the wheels so I have been playing with cleaning them. FIrst I used the autosol metal life saver which made a difference. But they were still rusty. I soaked the ends in the autosol stuff for 4 days and they are much better, could now rub off most of...

    Australian made 14" Bundt alloys

Does anyone have any experience with Bundt copies made in Australia? Looks like my set were made in 1988. They seem a high quality copy as it would appear they have the steel inserts for the lug bolts. I imagine they are cast, not forged like the genuine Fuchs units, but I really have no...
