    Difference Between W116 and W126

You shouldn't need the spacers and running spacers without engineering certification on the car would void your rego and insurance. What are the specs of the wheels? part number and width? was it a six? they had narrower wheels on the 116.

    Difference Between W116 and W126

There shouldn't be. But the W126 was never fitted with the 5.5" and 6.0" wheels to my knowledge so perhaps only the 6.5" fit?

The last few weeks of 5398

They sold so many 560SLs in the USA, they are only worth anything with super low mileage. plus the railway sleeper bumpers are a deterrent to many.

    Car of the week

Lloyds results this month. Nothing jumped out at me this time from the mercedes section. The two w116s were not that great. the blue d-jet 450 was very tired and the silver-green 450 was very high km and a bit tatty. prices seemed fair for what they were. The 300 3.5 was a great...

    [JT] The Rover IOE Engine

This one is a Weslake-head 2.6-litre in a Rover 110. The twin-trumpet paper-filter air cleaner was characteristic of the Weslake-head engines. The 2.6-litre (non-Weslake) engine was used in the Forward Control Land Rovers. As you can see here, access for servicing wasn't altogether...

    [JT] The Rover IOE Engine

Here’s the second part of our look at the Rover IOE engine family, which had started life as a design before the Second World War and entered production in 1948. This part of the story is a lot less complicated than the earlier part. First of all, though, there’s an important correction to my...

For sale - rationalizing the fleet.

    So a MK2 Manual/Overdrive? Good choice. A 2.4 like John Thaw is driving above, or a 3.4 or 3.8?

    USA Junkyard visit

They used to be, but last time I really got stung with all the hidden fees, even from the big providers. plus in Vegas the big hotels gouge on things like parking. made be really gun shy about renting cars post Covid 19

    Dismantling a 450SE

This is a great old thread. TK is full of these gems from the early days and one of the main differences from Facebook where things from even 2 hours ago vanish into the abyss.

    USA Junkyard visit

I’m back in the USA and managed to visit more junkyard 560SELs. The cars had been there longer, but there was a pair this time; https://www.classicjalopy.com/2023/04/usa-junkyard-visit-2023/

    C107's 300TE

Latest on the 300TE was fixing the tailgate struts. This is a pain to do, but worth it as you can. I joined a tech day to get this job done. You can read more here: https://www.classicjalopy.com/2023/04/s124-tech-day/ https://www.classicjalopy.com/2023/04/300te-tailgate-struts/ And some...

    [JT] The Rover IOE Engine

This is the 1595cc engine in Land Rover form for the 80-inch model. The six-cylinder had a single carburettor and 75bhp for the P3 75 saloon. This is the 2-litre Spread Bore engine for a mid-1950s Land Rover. This is a real rarity and may be the only surviving example of the test batch...
