    Car of the week

This month's lloyds offering: The pick of the bunch is the 88 560SEC which looks in reasonable condition, attractive colour combination and the 220kW UK version. The 250/8 is a basket case, the 450SLC isn't great, nor is the 450SEL. The 58 220S is ok, but I'm surprised the bidding...

    My 1965 250SE Cabriolet

I've just fitted a 123 ignition distributor to the car. No, this has nothing to do with the W123. 123 ignition is a european company who make a brand new electronic distributor with many applications. For example they have a model that replaces most lucas distributors too, one for the...

    Car of the week

This got a max bid of $6400 on grays. I wonder if the seller will take this or try yet again.

    Car of the week

yeah other than a couple of exceptions (e.g. Pagodas), collector car prices are back below pre-covid. A lot of sellers have not yet adjusted to that yet, so cars stay for sale for months. Auction hammer prices are showing that buyers are just not willing to pay those prices anymore.

    Mercedes V8 Inlet Manifolds

Ah, ok. Well the main thing they all need is new flexible fuel hoses. If you can get it to run well in the 350SEL body, then it may just transfer over as it is. These cars often got parked due to terminal rust rather than engine issues. The D-jet system is more complex than the k-jet...

    Mercedes V8 Inlet Manifolds

I've never heard of anyone get a mercedes V8 to run well on carbies, and a few have tried. Not saying its impossible, but have never seen it. Since they never made a carby version, there are no factory parts. If you want to V8 swap your car, I would personally buy a K-jet motor. K-jet...

    Mercedes V8 Inlet Manifolds

Why carby? I've seen a couple of cars sold for pennies because the owners tried this and the car never ran properly and was sold at parts car value. Even if you get it to run, you'll make the car unsellable. If you don't want the D-jet or K-ket better to convert to modern EFI.

    Car of the week

This petrol blue 450SE has been on FB for a few weeks now. It was put up for a very unrealistic $22k, now its reduced to $16,900. It looks like a nice car

    Car of the week

That nice original 280SE W116 with the green interior is back at auction again, but this time on Grays. I don't see it doing better on Grays than Lloyds and I think it got to market value both previous times it went up. It looks like a nice car, its just that these don't have the highest...

    Converting 280S auto to manual?

If you want a manual Mercedes easier to find an earlier car like a w114, w108 or w111 with a manual.

    Converting 280S auto to manual?

It’s doable and manual cars do come up locally occasionally. Europe or South Africa are your best bets, but I would be easier to find a whole car if you could.

    Car of the week

Lot 433 - There are a few white 126's for sale, but unlike some of the others, this one actually looks nice, and early bidding reflects that. Comes with books and original becker.

    Car of the week

Lot 430 - 380SEC Kiwi import. Ordered with MPH speedo and heated seats for some reason, but MPH speedo is gone. Perhaps intended to be taken to the UK? Wheels are hideous, and the velour upholstory has been replaced with post 1988 seats, but overall it looks ok if the price is right...

    Car of the week

The ones that are at least worth looking at: Lot 410 - 230/8. Nice example out of long term ownership. The 230/8 is not a particularly desirable model, but I would much rather a nice 230 than a shabby 280. And its a series 1 car which are much better looking. Lot 420 - 1977...
