I recently paid a visit to my Automotive Paint and Polish supplier. He is situated at Guildford and next to his premises is a Panel Beater by the name of Tony. I have seen Tony at work on a Mazda CX5 with a horrible amount of damage which, to my reckoning, was a proper write off. No ifs, no buts. However, he assured me it would take him a day and no more for all panel beating and assembly to be completed. A matter of days later, I needed to purchase some materials and polishes, and I spotted what would appear to be a 220SE Convertible, with manual transmission. It had just arrived on a Flat Bed truck, ostensibly for him to put his panel beating craft to this car. When speaking to him, he indicated that a private person (owner) was going to restore the car. Let me perhaps show you some pics - that's providing this old PC that I am using at work, is going to co-operate. Keeping fingers crossed.
Unfortunately, I have encountered an issue with finding the appropriate photos, but I will take the opportunity to post this thread for the time being and then catch up at a later date to post attach the pics. My apologies for that. Regards Styria

Miracles do happen from time to time - what's dead simple for one is dead difficult for another. I know that Coupes attract big money, but in this instance also attract a considerable capital outlay. BTW, miracles relate to the finding of the photos.

Years ago, the 300SE version would attract most monetary values and probably rightly so. It was the last of the sixties Coupe with the beautiful timber dash/instrument binnacle that the later models did not have - they made do with vinyl, but the big attraction were the 3.5 litre V8 versions. A LHD Coupe, in that condition.
Folly.
I actually think I've come across this wreck before, if it's the same car it was inundated in a flood in Texas of all places, bought by Chris Johnston of the M-100 group and carted to Crete, Colorado where it sat in the weather, year round.
It snows a lot there.
