Referring to the thing with the thin shiny metal rod at the base of it, just above where the steering box arm joins the steering shafts in centre of pic.

I was thinking something like that, but it didn't look like anything could move / flex. Can the skinny metal bit move inside the larger metal bit above it perhaps?
