Hello,

The alarm carked itself last week!

Happy to report the alarm has now been removed glad to see it go in fact!

Ordered a new set of keys from Mercedes.

Once I have the keys I will be able to use the central locking.

Good to hear about the alarm , curious why your ignition key won't work in the door ?

Hello Helmet,

I have been told the igition barrell has been replaced.

Why the barrell was replaced I will have to find out.

Original door locks on the outside of the car.

Mercedes inform the key should be ready on Friday.

I have to call in and collect the key to make sure the key works.

Good riddance to the alarm I will say that much and get back to using the central locking.

Cheers.

Hello Helmet sorry for the late reply.

No door key the remote would lock & unlock the car.

Picked up the new keys from Mercedes this week.

Mercedes did ask for a copy of my rego & licence.

Alarm removed by a local auto electrician.

I was told the alarms are an ombination could not agree more!

Central locking now working with the key and a spare key as well.

Note something in the engine bay is missing.

Happy motoring and the Concours not far away now.

Cheers.

Good joke about the M100 engine Bryce.

Maybe one day the M100 engine would be nice.

For now very happy with the M103 straight six engine in the car.

Ordered a new ignition barrel from Mercedes which will take 4 to 5 weeks to arrive.

Mercedes inform me the barrel will not come with a key.

But the new keys will operate the barrel.

It has been much better to lock & unlock the car with the door key NO more alarm!

Cheers.

Exactly right Helmet!

Awaiting on the barrel to arrive from Germany.

Now no more aftermarket alarm installed in the 300SE I wonder if that will re-gain a few more points at this years Concourse?

I will have to find out if my NRMA rego & insurance could possibly be cheaper now the alarm has been removed?

Speaking of the Concourse 13 days to go yikes who's counting?!

I cancelled my Comp. NRMA Insurance and also Allianz in favour of Shannons. Saved Hundreds !
The Green Slips are now $800 plus , Shannon's $500 plus for the same cover, via the Government regulations.

Thanks for that info Sean.

Next time the rego/insurance is due it might pay to compare prices.

Perhaps Tim's 300SE could be fitted with a twin key setup like a ballistic missile.

This could prevent premature launch of the W126

Good evening,

My local MB Dealership rang today to inform me the barrel is no longer available.

Order for the barrel was made 6th September.

The MB Dealership have offered refund which will be processed by the end of the week.

The barrel has to be security coded to my make and model Mercedes.

Just trying to locate another ignition barrel.
