I've queried this before ... still none the wiser. How accurate is the digital read outs for fuel consumption ? My C Class speedometer in 1% high at 100Ks. Don't know about the ODO. Can I believe the average 7lts/ 100ks reading.???

I use www.fuelly.com to track my fuel ups and I find it correlates pretty well to the onboard display in the E350. I can't comment much on the other cars as they have no such display.

40MPG? I get 11.6 on the SLC. (US Gallons)

Thanks Bryce, I guess that manufacturers would not want a version of Diesel Gate on their hands by rigging read out consumption figures. Usage is governed by the Tap which is controlled by our right foot !
