1954-1955 300SLR Sports Racer

Can anyone give me some facts about this car:

How many were built in total and who owns them?

I remember reading an article about this racer a few years ago and vaguely remember that there were 9 built, of which one was destroyed at Le Mans in '55. The remaining 8 all belong to Daimler.

Someone said that 3 belong to Daimler and the rest are in private hands, but I don't think so.

I know that one or two examples are on loan to museums - saw one in the Deutsches Museum in Munich in 1991, and there was one on loan in the now defunct Schlumpf Collection.

All I can say is that if a private individual actually owns one of these, then LUCKY BASTARD!!!!
