    6.3 #2723

"the brake trick sounds like it could be helping the solenoid overcome some stick-slip resistance by dropping and boosting the battery voltage the starter sees" This was my theory.

Did you try press and release with the key turned? I'm guessing now but it may work

    6.3 #2723

There is a foible with the starter, if you tap the brake pedal when you twist the key to start the starter will engage. It's inexplicable but seems to work. Sorry, forgot to mention that... It's got to be something to do with that ground strap. Also, under the dash on the RH side of the wheel...

    Car of the week

The 018 stamp looks odd and the body plate is missing a fixing. Odd.

    Car of the week

Wow, $37K. I bought it on ebay back when it was an auction site for $1922, it was under a makeshift carport in Jilliby in the central coast hinterland. Parked next to a yurt. Towed it down to Seven Hills where it sat under the factory for years. I sold it for $6k to 2 MBCNSW members who got it...

    6.3 #2723

Big shout out to Sam the Towie. A gentleman and a professional. He arrived outside my place at 8:50am, started reversing into my driveway and a hose blew on his power steering. Instead of throwing his hands in the air he arranged for the part to be delivered to him from an hour and a half away...

Sun CVT-260 Co2 Timing and vacuum analyser

Vintage engine analyser by Sun Electric (Nederland) I used this often tuning the MFI for the 6.3 Worked perfectly last time I used it probably 3 or 4 years ago. I'm asking $450 but have no real idea of value, it's clearly rare as a google search comes up blank. Offers invited

W202 help in Melton area, VIC

Any VIC members with a recommendation for a mechanic in the Melton surrounds to sort a W202 C240 transmission that won't shift out of 1st? Daughter lives down there and and is a bit stuck.

    Rebuilding 6.3 Suspension Compressor

Both Albert Plekker and Francis Abate had back ups of the old forum last we communicated. I'll check with both, maybe able to get a copy of the database. I have no idea what to do with it from there though :) When we were in Wausau at Karl Middlehauves Albert and I discussed resurrecting it, but...

    300SEL 6.3 For Sale

I wrote the add, and set the price, with you in mind Bryce. I'd love you to take it on as I know the bright future it'd have in your hands. I have a heap of NLA spares that go with it, airbags, sump, the unobtanium complex coolant pipe that runs through the valley. Lets have a chat.

    300SEL 6.3 For Sale

I'm putting my 6.3 on the market. At the moment it's forlorn in the carport with a dead fuel pump. I have a replacement Bosch short body pump for it as well as a new D Jet type pump as presently fitted. It's down on it's knees as the drivers side and rear levelling valves need replacement, a...

The joys and challenge of Restorations.

A LHD Coupe, in that condition. Folly. I actually think I've come across this wreck before, if it's the same car it was inundated in a flood in Texas of all places, bought by Chris Johnston of the M-100 group and carted to Crete, Colorado where it sat in the weather, year round. It snows a...

Auto Brunch Event - St Ives

I'll admit to being a bit of a fan of the XF Falcon. I had a 4.1 Ute, Auto Air Steer back in '86 ( I was 21). With a Telstra 1st Gen Car phone, as a company car working as a project manager for a commercial AC company. By god I thought I'd made it! Then later down the track a XF Panel van as an...
