I've always been more of a fan of the Series XJs, but I would take a late 4.0 liter or even better the rare XJ81 Daimler Double Six.

AMG Part Numbers for W116 and production timelines etc.

Good info. I think they sold wheels before that, but didn't make them themselves. My Aero I's were built for them by Oz Racing. I'm pretty sure I've seen catalogs that are earlier than 83 with the pentas, which off the top of my head were built in the UK? Bryce

    560sec ece

Back in January, I went to drive my 560SEC. It was parked in the corner of my garage so I needed full lock to get the car out. I noticed that I lost power steering, so I got out of the car to check the belt. I was surprised to see the engine running, but the belts were stationary...

My old 280SE is doing well in its new ownership, the owner being a MBCNSW member who has put around 7,000km on the car since he purchased it from me. Here it is at a recent night drive:

Last weekend I took the 240D on a road trip to Brisbane. the car did very well, returning around 9l/100km at pretty much wide open throttle the whole way. More here: https://www.classicjalopy.com/2025/01/road-trip-to-brisbane-in-my-1981-240d/

And I re-installed the Becker 596 with hidden bluetooth box. Driving a classic MB without a becker is like going to france and not eating the cheese. https://www.classicjalopy.com/2025/01/becker-596-installation-with-bluetooth-box/

Turns out the aux fan is dead. The relay clicks, but the fan does not come on even when the relay is bypassed. So new fan on order. I am about to take the car on a trip to Brisbane and back, which will be my first big trip in the car.
