    Car of the week

    1) 77 280SE: Sold for $2709 + 7.5% premium. Could be a good buy depending on why it needed to be tilt trayed away. 2) 77 450SEL: I think high bid was reasonable. Passed in at $5888, looks like reserve was about $8k. 3) 78 280SEL: High bid, $3800 looks like reserve was about $12k...

    Car of the week

Yes, lovely car in a great colour. A UK import with the high output engine but NO AC which would be a deal breaker for me.

    All ITALIAN

Not a patch on the original Simon and Garfunkel recording! The original one before the embellishments is even better.

I've seen this one - looks like a really nice car.

    Car of the week

Assuming its not rusty from its time in the UK and it has history to back up the mileage, that is a steal for an SLC as nice as that.

    Car of the week

I would take the E500 over the ML.

    79 280SE

I found an exhaust Y piece in facebook marketplace while I was in canberra visiting relos over the new years. Mine is cracked. This looks like an upgraded design with more meat between the arms of the Y.

    AUDI A7 3.0 litre TDI

A friend of mine has a VW product, I can't remember which one. Its has three transmissions replaced, two of them outside warranty and its had the piston rings replaced to stop the excessive oil burning issues.

    AUDI A7 3.0 litre TDI

I think many modern car oil change intervals also are too long. Our E350 has been serviced by the book yet there was some sludge around the cam actuators when I changed them.

    Bundt Wheels made by BBS

my general view is rims over 16" are too big for the 116, 107 or 126. Having said that, there was a 450SE at one of our night drives recently with some bigger BBS rims that looked pretty mean.

2000 model lexus GS300 for sale

So an update on the Lexus. My sister has owned the car for the last 5 years, parked outside the whole time. Still in good mechanical condition but only average cosmetic condition, with the hail damage etc. Earlier this year somebody drove into the car and broke off the front bumper. They...

    S211

A quick update on this car. I’ve been having the symptoms of a bad balance shaft but this car is outside the affected range from Mercedes. I’ve changed the magnetic actuators and camshaft position sensors but it didn’t fix it Took the car to an independent mechanic who took off the cam...

    Wanted to Buy: 350 or 450SLC Feb/March 2022

This may be worth a look. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/283335807148134/?ref=saved&referral_code=null Its a 280SLC, so cheaper than a v8 and the condition looks very nice from the photos at least.

    Wanted to Buy: 350 or 450SLC Feb/March 2022

A few other things to think about. V8 engines require timing chains at regular intervals. I've heard both 100k and 150k. Guides, camshaft oilers and tensioner should be done at the same time. Higher mileage V8s will require valve stem seals and potentially heads off to replace valve...

    Camshafts

From what you posted looks like they all have the 36/37 camshafts. that would make things easier. I assume you mean the load of 2 persons in the car for the acceleration sprint? I think that is a standard MB thing. I wonder if they were both big 2 meter tall germans!

    Wanted to Buy: 350 or 450SLC Feb/March 2022

The K-Jet system is much simpler than D-Jet, and the differences between K and D are far more extensive than K and KE. KE is basically K Jet with some electronic enhancements. Its still at its heart a mechanical system. D-Jet is 60s era electronic system, actually far closer to modern fuel...
