As previously advised; move to Sydney and join the Vintage Sports Car Club. You will then get to see and drive such carriages in the metal (and wood).

Canberra? The only city in the world where I have been lost for hours on end. Driving around looking for the non-existant city centre.....:eek:
The is a Canberra Chapter of the VSCC so not all would be lost. And you would have a few of the folk here to keep you entertained on a cold (most) night.....

I'd live in Canberra, which is only a stones throw away, climate and humidity is similar to Tasmania,

No offence, but Sydney has too many people, too many cars,

C'mon Des,

You can handle the big smoke....:D

Yep Been to Sydney about 6 years ago, similar problems,

but yes I really do want to pop over, at the moment things here are a bit crazy with my work and my dad who is in out of hospital,

I am hoping in the next few months to have some breathing time to pop over and say hello!

You'll be very welcome mate.;)
I do hope your dad's health improves and he gets better.

Just let us know.

thank you for thinking of us,

looks like he has to go in now for a bipass operation in the next few weeks before he can go in for a hernia operation,

doctors are like the government, they have meetings, talk, talk talk, before they will actually do anything,

just a very long drawn out process.

Our prayers are with you.
I am a strong believer that he will be OK...
Keep up the faith,,,,;)

Hi Des - first of all your dad. Sorry to hear of his problems. Hoping and wishing that his health will improve after the medical attention. Unfortunately, as one gets older (well, my age) you hear stories of various problems friends and people all of a sudden suffer from. I just close my ears and try and ignore it.

I just love those old, yet real pictures. I wonder how the Horch stood up in quality to the time equivalent Mercedes products ? The 2 - door convertible I saw at C. F. Mirbach certainly looked the goods, although I thought that the dash was not quite as ornate as some of the Benzes. Regards Styria

On the racing circuit they were head to head with Mercedes, sadly didn't help them ending up on the wrong side of the iron curtain
That was basically the demise of Horch and AutoUnion

Yeah....if only wars could be settled on the race track, like the fighter pilots of WW1, the new heroes

Could there be a link here?
Remember Blackadder, the last series, in WW1, where Rik Mayall used to make guest appearances as a pilot hero?
The same Rik Mayall, who used to occasionally turn up on Benz forums pretending to be Des?
