    79 280SE

My 1979 280SE W116. Australian delivered update model with velour carpet and full dash wood. 906 Grey Blue with cream MB-TEX interior, both in great condition. Original Becker Mexico cassette. Well optioned car with sunroof, alloys etc. A lot of work done in the last twelve months...

    79 280SE

Well I have another 1,000km on the 280SE and it's running really well. Took it on the MBCNSW night drive to Bilpin the other night. The M110 really likes revs! Anyway, I'll probably put the car on the market in the new year. Anyone looking for a nice but not perfect 280SE let me know.

    Car of the week

I thought that 6.9 was a bit of a basket case and was very lucky to get that price. Needed everything. Paint was stuffed, mechanical work. The works.

    Sensors Rev. Cameras Cruise Controls

Sounds like a good solution. some kind of reversing assistance is almost a must in modern cars as you can't see the corners from the drivers seat. The worst were late 90s and early 2000s models that had the modern shape but not technology to help park them. As an example the W210 is much...

    Red Bull (5541)

You're making great progress on this car. Good news the damage is limited to the intake manifold. keeps the job focused. Not really a surprise that the 6.9 needs a bigger radiator than a 450. And you want it to cool nicely when our weather goes back to hot again,.

I bet that did wonders for its longevity.

    Red Bull (5541)

Great progress. Sounds like a good result if the engine itself is undamaged. A losing the EGR doesn’t seem like a loss. I’ve never heard of anyone failing an inspection due to EGR removal. and in any case there was a great thread on OzBenz where the poster removed all that crap from his...

What ratio diff do most 450 116's have

Went from 46:15 to 52:17 Presumably this was to rationalize parts, as I don't think the rear axle itself fundamentally changed. Or possibly they were trying to solve some other problem like a resonance. 1980 USA models 450SEL and 450SL/SLC went with 2.65 also due to the CAFE laws they had...

What ratio diff do most 450 116's have

Just saw this old thread. For future reference, the change was made from 3.07 to 3.06 in January 1974. Lots of tech specs list the original 3.07 because that is what the cars were launched with.

    Patrick's Trucks ?

The heat pump dryer had the biggest impact for us. Our power bills are now less than half just with that one change. Granted, we have three young children that create a lot of washing and drying, so our washer and dryer were going most hours of the day. We also have the 6.6Kw solar system...

Auto Brunch Event - St Ives

The issue is less location and more the shared database. Because its shared with lots of other people, we can't change settings that the forum software would like to see for good performance, so the site can be slow when people are using it because of this. Performance varies a lot because...

    WTB W108/109 3.5

Yes, The silver one that went through shannons. Apparently it pretty much needed everything and was a lot better in the photos than in real life.

    WTB W108/109 3.5

Yes, his asking price is still on the high side. The one that sold at Shannons was quite a basket case though, if that was one of the ones you're referring to.

    WTB W108/109 3.5

Have you seen this one? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/hornsby/cars-vans-utes/1972-mercedes-benz-300-sel-3-5-automatic-sedan/1303513008 Its' been for sale for ages, largely because the seller tried selling it with a very silly price in mind, and it went stale. It's now got a (more) sensible...

    WTB W108/109 3.5

Welcome to the forum. Will keep an eye out. Are you happy with either a W108 or a W109? they are very different cars to own, so wanted to check. Generally people want one or the other. If you do go for a W109, make sure its not had a W108 interior fitted as it destroys the value when...

Auto Brunch Event - St Ives

More photos: https://www.classicjalopy.com/2022/11/auto-brunch-st-ives-november-2022/ I just moved my own site to a new hosting provider, and so far it seems quite a bit faster. If all goes well, I will move topklasse over close to our next renewal which I think is January.
