Die Rote Sau - the red pig

A section from my latest article in the MBCV ATB Magazine: Research can often snowball into something far beyond the initial intent, so it’s always wise to retain a focal point to which you can return. And so it is with the history of motor racing, Mercedes and AMG. My research for the last...

I’m not sure what other services are offered but it might be worth a call or drop in the joints for assessment?

    Fangio and the 6.9

Yes the author is Pedr Davis & the book is called “Rear Vision”. I’ve just bought a second hand copy so I’ll upload pix of the whole article tomorrow. In addition, I managed to track down the retired police member who actually got to ride with Fangio! Sounds like he might just have some more...

Die Rote Sau - the red pig

Well I thought I'd add my 2c to this old thread as we remember a fallen comrade. This is a section from my upcoming article in the MBCV ATB Magazine which is published monthly. During my research I discovered some interesting new info: The vast majority of us would be familiar with the 300SEL...

    Fangio and the 6.9

I was recently sent this poor set of scans from a book and I'll see if you all can decipher why it's so significant. Hopefully I'll get some better scans done soon so we can all read the whole section properly. In fact I'll likely buy a copy of the book if I can track one down. So much more...

    B+B CW311

Of course the 6,8L Red Pig made 420hp, which is 45hp more than the 6,3L CW311. So that’s now roughly 145hp more than a 6.9

    B+B CW311

What is interesting is the timeline of these vehicles. First the Red Pig, followed by the 1972 Interserie car. Seems AMG then moved on to the 4V M117s while B+B built the 1979 CW311 and Sbarro the 1987 Monster G. Seems to me they were all engines sourced from AMG/MKB.

    B+B CW311

Note that’s around 100hp more than the later & larger 6.9! You’d assume it used the earlier 6.3 injection, but there’s no mention of those details. Clearly exhaust & intake are the keys to more power...
