350SE finally registered and on the road again

Congratulations and the oops was normal in my 450SEL before I paid out for a gps heads-up display. Luckily nothing turned up in the mail. I was on a highway with low traffic and caught up to a car and wondered why it was only doing 60km/h in a 110km/h zone so I went past and back to 110km/h. As...

    Not to be Trusted

I notice on the ozbenz site a post about a M271 motor in a clc200k with 90k kms on it and timing chain has gone bad. Owner priced repairs at $5-7k and it was mentioned that 50-100k is a normal thing in the first iteration of that motor. The car is a 2009 and valued at $9k. What on earth are they...

    Disco Panzer

WOW you are getting into the deep end now. I wish you success as these models are getting rarer if not dearer. I love mine and maintenance isn't that hard providing its in good condition but mine is throwing oil out at the front but I can't as yet find the cause. Joys of motoring in older...

dodgy electric window regulator drivers door.

as the title says. My '75 450 SEL drivers side window regulator is cactus. The motor is fine but I guess at nearly 50years old its been a good unit. I reckon by the sound of the gears not meshing that the alloy frame is bent. I had removed it a couple years back to replace the motor and while it...

on my Jaguar 420G the air filter is down on the right hand side mudguard in its own little area like the E type. simp[e and effective.

    W116 D jet?

I have found my 450 d-jet ran quite well on ulp 95 and even normal ulp with no pinging et al. I don't use an additive but occasionally run some injector cleaner to the tankful just a a precaution.

    W116 D jet?

good for you. 2 things to check first though is the timing chain as its failure could be bad for your engine and timing. Once done a fuel filter (near the rear) and also clean the accumulator if its been sitting for a while as crud goes hard and slows the flow. oh also check the fuel pump for...

    79 280SE

Good to hear. Now a trailer and winch and you have another on to restore.

    79 280SE

How about a dremel and cut the top of the cover and prise it off? Not the best solution I know but if needs must.

    79 280SE

I did (from memory) push it clear of the dash and turned it slightly to clear but used a fair bit of force but it does turn a little.

    79 280SE

Bryce I have had much success using a sander (without sandpaper) to encourage the key to turn. The vibrations help move the wafers if the key is worn or the lube has dried up and just a little pressure on the key is all that's needed. Love the spring repair, very clever. Pete

    79 280SE

From memory (been a while) there's a button on the steering lock you depress and the whole lot comes out. Then you unscrew the back section (cable section) and you can work on it on the bench. I can't remember if the key needs to be in the 1st or 2nd position to press the button on the locking...

    W116SEL door handle

hi Styria, that is very generous of you. I hope I can assist in the future in some way

    W116SEL door handle

All good Styria. They are easy to replace the lock section so just a case of taking out my existing lock and putting it into the new handle. Could you email me your address so I can send you the money I owe you. I managed to toss out the package before writing it down. Pete
