The Mampe race car incorporated rather large twin plenums, whereas the Red Pig did not. Not sure if that alone accounted for the differences in performance. The Red Pig had only 50hp more despite the capacity increase of 51% (4500 vs 6800cc).

The std 6.3 was also configured with main runners feeding same side primary runners. The race manifold used a cross ram design, which is more desirable for high torque. The std intake also incorporated injectors protruding into the airstream (which is far from desirable), however I have no idea...
