Buried in the software of my Mk V11 Golf I foundan MPG read out, my language!
The centre of the speedo still has all the detail in Kls and Litres/ per/100, etc. Now in the central display it shows MPG, distance in miles etc. This I understand.
39.4 MPG round the suburbs in short trips.

Real numbers! I'm with you Sean. My display can be set to read UK English and show MPG but under acceleration I get numbers like 10 MPG so I leave it in KMPH which, since I don't fully comprehend, leads to a sense of ignorant bliss.
I mean, 27 litres per 100 kilometres sounds pretty good mileage to me.

I concur... even with a 500SL or a 690SEL

Rover 6 cyl. 3 litre Coupe - night drive, rain, back in 1970 - average speed 60 miles per hour - 25 mpg. Around city and subs. - 22. Manual with O/D.

Rover 6 cyl. Auto Coupe Mark III - 19.5 Hwy, 16.5 subs.

Rover 3500S - 4 speed manual. Hwy. 25 mpg, towing horse float with one cow as occupant - 17 mpg. Subs. 21.

Mercedes Finnie 300 - Hwy, towing trailer and two Motor Bikes - 13 mpg, without trailer and sundries 17 mpg.

Rover 3500 Auto - Hwy. 22 mpg.

450SEL 6.9 - high compression Euro engine - Open Road 20 mpg (Yes.!!) Economy Run with MB Club - 21.9 mpg, Subs. 15 - 17 mpg

Holden Statesman 2000 5.7 V8 - Hwy 26 -28 mpg., Subs. 22 mpg.

2013 Honda Jazz - Hwy 45 mpg.

Holden Captiva 3.2 litre V6 - Hwy. 8.5 to 10.0 per 100, Subs. 13.5 litres/100.
